Very poor service interferes with working from home on this area and undermines property values.

More than Cogeco should be considered, the reliance on wirelined solutions may not be the answer. More investment in wireless towers and technology...possibly a TekSavvy or other. Either way, our internet speeds and reliability are 1990ish.

Too slow and inconsistent compared to everywhere else. Worst I’ve seen since the 90s

Deserve much better speeds at the cost. Infrastructure needs upgrading, competition for our money may make Eastlink rethink the quality of our service

Very dissapointed with East Link service in the Blue Point area. I've lived in the area for 6 months now and have had more service interruptions than I can count. The most recent service outage lasted for a whole week over the Christmas holidays. My partner and I are extremely frustrated that other reliable service providers are not available.

400 Kbps does not meet today's parameters of a functional internet connection. We have a large enough concentration of homes to merit a good connection to decent internet services available nearby

Property values are negatively impacted by extremely slow, intermittent and unreliable internet service. Home businesses cannot function and the impact is a big, big deal.

My Eastlink download speed is barely functional...I don't think it's even in the Mbps range. More likely it's Kbps range. (45 sec to download a 4 meg photo. ). Had Eastlink tech over a few times. At one point the tech agreed with me that I would be better off to drive 15 km up the highway and use the free wifi at Tim Hortons. He says we are basically getting a trickle effect at the end of a line that can't handle the service load imposed on it. I get the impression it's not profitable to perform the necessary upgrades for such a small number of houses. They're stuck trying to provide a service which they are not able to. Definitely a government subsidy might be the incentive they need. What we have is not acceptable. My participation on the internet has now been reduced to simple email letters and a few photos. This level of service excludes me from participating on the internet in any meaningful way. Presently it is performing at the equivalent capacity of 2 tin cans connected together by a length of taut string.

I wholeheartedly support this petition. Fibre Optic technology is long overdue to replace the antiquated DSL technology.

I am so tired of not being able to do anything online without much frustration. Too many calls to have techs come out and shake their heads and say there is nothing we can do!! If you aren't going to fix it then at least drop our rates!!!

to me it does not make sence to have an entirely new sub division built and to have this poor of internet service. further more while a new sub division is being deisgned and built, someone should really think about the future and put in what is becoming the standard not install what was the old standard services. the new standard is fiber internet. its much easier to do this now than in 10-15 years.

We have children that require adequate internet for school.

I buried the cable the Eastlink tech gave me and ran it to my house. When it was time to move in, I contacted Eastlink to make the connection. They repeatedly told me that I was not in their service area. This went on for about a year when I saw the tech again, he told me to request the southwest region. I found someone there that agreed that I was indeed serviceable. The cable runs through my front yard and my neighbour has a cable box 2 feet from my property line. By then I had already signed up with Explornet which is quite expensive.

Our internet experience has been much the same as others in this area as there is only 1 option for broadband. We currently purchase their(DSL) "UP TO" 5 Mbps down option, and the key words are the "UP TO" and tells you wont get 5 Mbps, but allows them to charge the same fees and provide LESS. Recently I installed a router that tracks our available speed and it consistently tops out at 2.8 Mbps, a little bit more than half of what we're paying for. A recent check of this ISP's ad's in Forest indicate a comparable priced package(via fibre) as providing 100 Mbps down(NO mention of "UP TO"), WOW 2.8 vs 100 for the same price(~$100/M) at those data rates we should be paying about $3.00/M. Rural customers are subsidizing Urban customers. So we called the ISP to complain and we're told they could upgrade us to the "UP TO" 20 Mbps down plan by changing the modem and paying an increased fee, which we said NO thanks to as its surely less than 20, however the ISP rep. assured us it would be near 20 Mbps. A chat with a neighbour found it to be in the 7 Mbps range. This whole conversation now suggests to me that the ISP is intentionally limiting the download speeds. If they can provide greater download speed on the same wiring while only changing the modem then why can't we get 5 Mbps on a 5 Mbps plan. Kind of smells bad!!!
