FEASIBILITY STUDY FOR BETTER BROADBAND IN WATERLOO TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN
We, the citizens of Waterloo Township in Michigan, petition the township to sponsor a feasibility study to bring better broadband to our residents.
The internet options in our township are expensive, inadequate, unreliable and in some cases non-existent. The lack of internet access negatively impacts everyone: the lives of our children, the values of our homes and the opportunity for economic improvement.
I demand that the township board support and sponsor a feasibility study in spring 2018 to bring better broadband to Waterloo Township.

I have been spending my evenings reading your stories about dropped video calls and kids sitting in parking lots just to finish their homework. This silence from the township board is frustrating but it only confirms that we have to keep pushing for this study ourselves.

I've paid "universal access" fees/taxes for years before moving to Waterloo Township...where is all the money that's supposed to help with rural access to the internet? Waterloo Township needs to get it's share of these fees!
Absolutely amazing that Frontier offers DSL through phone lines directly behind my home on Harr Rd. but my line is owned by AT&T so they can't touch it. That needs intervention.
My Verizon Jetpack is good in Waterloo but costs about $120 a month for 30GB of high speed. That's about 1 hr of video a day and since TV reception is now so crappy with the switch to digital, my husband watches the Michigan Outdoors program and other things online. We often go over 30GB. So we not only need high speed, we want unlimited GB at high speed (Verizon has unlimited but it cuts off high speeds after 6 GB, so it's worthless) and hopefully under $100 a month ... we'd love to have a TV package too, so we could get programs on TV again. We live right in the middle of the Waterloo Rec Area.
Better internet would be nice but at what cost? I will not vote for a tax increase to get better internet. It's not fair to increase taxes for those that don't want it or use it.
Let the study show how broadband has become a necessity for many and will improve the value of our community and individual homes more than offsetting costs. A no brainer to have the study.
Couldn't agree more. Better broadband is simply just better for the entire community and will help in many, many ways.
I have heard promises from companies liek AT&T, Comcast, Verizon, and Frontier for too long. They do not want to serve rural areas at all. We need solutions not promises. The DSL options provided are already too slow for current technology demans.

I work from home a lot and right now am paying for 2 providers (Frontier and Verizon). Neither of the provide the speed that I need to effectively do my job. I am VERY interested in getting Broadband in this area.
