Well, the building management has just informed us that the pool will close for August (and probably September too given history) in order to repaint a nearby wall that frankly is not in any need of paint.

This is the best part of our building, and the best time of year to enjoy it. For many of us, this pool was the tiebreaking feature in choosing Pegasus over other buildings and our primary justification for the high rent. Without the pool, I think a fair amount of us simply would not live here.

We are the ones who pay for and live with these renovations. This project is not worth the cost and should not have been greenlit. The very idea of a voluntary pool closure in the middle of August is a failure on the part of management. Not communicating with and gathering feedback from the community before entering into this totally avoidable situation during peak pool season is also an absolute failure on the part of management. We deserve to have been included in this process from the beginning. Management made these mistakes and should be paying the price, not us residents.

In my opinion, the only acceptable fixes for this problem, in order of preference, are the following:

1) Simply cancel the new mural. The only real work that needed to be done was fixing rust and ordering new day beds. Both are already done. The wall looks great as-is and this is an unnecessary, wasteful expenditure. It would be better to simply charge us less instead of using our money to fund renovations that we don't really want. The lobby is uglier than its previous iteration and the roof renovations so far have left us without a TV or vending machine and a structurally blocked path in the middle of the figure 8. Why the heck can't we walk through the middle anymore??? With this track record, I don't believe the pool will be any better post-renovation.

2) Delay the rest of the work until autumn or winter. If this doesn't work for your contractors, find new ones. Management's job is to take care of our residents' needs first, not contractors'.

3) Shut down the pool, but compensate us for our loss by reducing everyone's rent 25% until the pool reopens.

Please sign the petition here if you would like to see management pause the pool closure and discuss with the community which of the above options should be exercised.

If you do not want to give your full name, a first name and floor number should be enough to prove you are a real resident.

Thank you for your time and for being awesome neighbors,

Peter
