Bridgend Borough Council Local Planning Authority have refused planning permission for the change of use to the ground floor of 17 West Drive, Porthcawl – to create classic tea rooms to be known as Mammos Cegin (Mammos Kitchen). The proprietor Susan Jones having registered an appeal to the Welsh Government now seeks support in this appeal process.

We, the undersigned, are members of the general public who use the coastal path at West Drive, Porthcawl and who feel that Tea Rooms as described above would be a benefit to ourselves and the general public at large. We therefore urge the Welsh Government to overturn the planning refusal as described above and support the appeal.

I was walking down the coastal path earlier and kept thinking about how perfect that space at West Drive would be for a warm cup of tea because the wind really picks up right there. People keep stopping me to ask if there is any news on the appeal and I wish I had more to tell them other than that we are waiting on the Welsh Government to actually look at our case.

Porthcawl needs more places like this. Walk the path every weekend and a nice tea room is exactly what we are lacking. Absolute joke that they turned it down.

PLEASE LET THIS GO AHEAD. BRIDGEND COUNCIL HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THE COMMUNITY ACTUALLY WANTS.

Ridiculous decision. It would be lovely to have a proper cuppa after a walk on the coast. Let Susan open the place up!
