We, the undersigned, express our support for the Gower Deli’s request to extend its opening hours modestly to better serve the needs of the community and local visitors.
The Gower Deli is a well-regarded, community-rooted business that:
- Supports the local economy and showcases Welsh food and drink
- Provides a welcoming and inclusive space for residents and visitors
- Operates responsibly, with no outdoor seating, takeaway, or late-night noise
- Envisions occasional, low-key evening gatherings in future that align with its character and community values
The request is to:
- Open earlier from 8:00am to serve morning walkers, commuters, and residents
- Close at 10:00pm on select evenings to support its business plan and respond to community demand
These changes are modest, reasonable, and in keeping with other nearby businesses. We value what the Gower Deli brings to our community and respectfully urge Swansea Council to support this small, independent business in continuing to thrive.

I fully support this new local business. They should have the same allowances/opening times as the businesses in the village. The business just next door is able to open later, it seems crazy that their request has been denied????
The deli is a huge addition to the village, with no noise issues, as can be proven from the current Thursday evening openings. Having extended hours on Friday and Saturday, plus other ad hoc evenings will enhance the village options for us residents and we fully support this appeal.
We absolutely love this little deli and would love to call for an early evening meal as well as lunch which we do on a regular basis. Christis and his staff are amazing and responsible people and I cannot see how opening a few more hours will cause any issues with local residents.
Christos and his small team have clearly worked their socks off to create this great business that both residents and visitors love. All they want is to be open at times when people are passing by and to hold the occasional special event. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.
This business is a massive asset to the village and it is extremely disappointing that such a short sighted decision has been made. A minute percentage have objected. How can that out weigh the huge support this application has?

We stay regularly with family a few doors away and this is a highlight in Southgate. The extra hours would support this business but mostly the residents who love their local bacon sandwich and also to employ more of the local teens who want part time work
