Pocomoke High School, located in Pocomoke City, Md is a place full of a diverse group of students. Even though the world showed us hate from a young age. The administration, teachers, and etc always showed us love, and that being different is okay.

Everyday we’d fear for our safety because of the simple fact of us being African American or because of how we were considered a minority. We’d take precautions just to make it home safely. We’d teach our kids not to wear the hoods of our jacket over our head in public. Or that if we are stopped by the police to comply, and that if somebody is following you run and don’t stop. At Pocomoke High School we didn’t have to worry about these things because they made sure that we all felt comfortable in our own unique skin. If we needed to talk to somebody in regards to these problems or in regards to our mental health. The amount of listening ears was endless, and the amount of love that could’ve been given was plentiful.

This mural is a symbol of support, peace, and love, and it made us feel as though we were safe. Safe in a place that accepted everyone no matter you’re gender or ethnicity. Pocomoke High always strived to make everyone feel included. So, please don’t take our mural away. Vote to help us keep it. Or if you don’t feel comfortable voting share this. So, the conversation of equality in our school system will continue. Have a blessed day
