Stilly Valley is in need of new or upgraded recreation facilities for the 6,000 kids living in the Arlington and Darrington
School Districts. The newest facility is the Arlington Boys & Girls Club which opened in 1992 but is not large enough
to meet the current or future demand for youth activity. Quake Field and the surrounding park property were developed
years ago and are in need of significant upgrades and expansion which will also be an economic boost for local economy
by bringing youth tournaments to stay in hotels and restaurants. Darrington is isolated from many sources of extracurric-
ular activities for their youth. Upgrades to their existing fields will make them multi-use and playable year-round due to
weather as well as upgrades to facilities used by youth. The need for positive and productive out of school activities is
great.
Our children and youth deserve a positive and healthy environment to grow and develop as well as connect to the community. My youth have benefited from the program at the Boys & Girls Club in Arlington and they are excited to have additional extracurricular activities for their teen years as well. Thank you!
