We are trying to get a Youth center here in the Smoky River Region. Currently we are in the process of trying to get funds for the center. With most of the grants that we apply for they require proof that this program is needed and wanted in the area. We are looking for individuals to sign this petition to show your support for the program, so that we are able to show the investors that this would be a successful venture.

Reaching this level of local support proves that this region is desperate for a place where our kids can belong. It has been a long and draining road to get this far but seeing this momentum gives me the energy to keep pushing through the grant applications.

Of course this type of facility is a benefit to a region. Keep the future generation of the area enjoying our area, may help them stay in the area.
Improving Mental Health and general well being in Youth is a common focus area within the entire Province of Alberta and it is not any different for the Smoky river region. A youth center would be a great step into the right direction of providing a place for youth to go and receive any form of support they might need at any given time. Youth centers are barrier and stigma free and speak the language that Youth want to hear.
A youth centre would need to be wheelchair accessible, and could then be used by mulitple user groups to enhance community participation. The potential for youth to be supported is greater when there is a centre for them to be part of, with purpose driven programming adding the potential of reducing the numbers of victims of crime and an increase in leadership capacity of participating youth.
Students at our local schools access this program and enjoy it. It is a valuable program.
As a previous youth worker in the region, a youth centre would be vital in creating futures for our youth. The region's youth can be powerful and are our future!
I believe the youths would profit alot from this. They would become more social with others.
Our youth need a place they can call their own.

Juanita Cloutier I work with Youth in the community and there is limited activities for the youth. Being a rural community already has its difficulties, by providing a youth center for the community would be a benefit not only the youth, but the community as a whole.
