According to the current plan, Rice Lake Elementary will lose one 4th grade classroom next year. This will result in 33-34 students in each of the remaining classrooms. This is 8-9 more students than the current 4th and 3rd grade classrooms. In comparison, the number of 4th graders per class next year at Golden Lake Elementary will be 24, Centennial Elementary will be 27, Blue Heron and Centerville Elementary will be 31. The proposed Rice Lake sizes are even larger than the proposed average class sizes of 32.5 at Centennial High School.  Teachers and administrators agree that the group of current third graders at Rice Lake have an exceptional number of individual needs. We want the administration to keep four 4th grade classrooms to enable teachers to meet those needs. The resulting 25-26 students per classroom will fall within the range of the other Centennial elementary schools.  Please sign this petition to show the administration how vital this issue is to you!
