Over 36% of the United States Rent. In the past ten years the rental industry brought in 4.5 Trillion dollars in rent. We know this is a very volatile industry, and now with the pandemic, it is even more volatile. As of today, April 3, 2020 over 6 million people filed for unemployment. Rent is an issue.
LEGISLATORS
Apartment and Housing Rentals Foundation Inc {501 c3) is asking that the landlords accept 40% of the rent. If there is a mandate for the landlords to take this rental amount we can put a dent in the monies owed. If rent is $1000, the landlords can get $400 during this pandemic. Rent that is $2500, will be $1000.
RENTERS
You need to pay 40% of your rent. In 2016 there were 2.300,000 evictions filed and 900,000 evictions. WE don't want this number to triple and that is what's going to happen if you do not pay. However, if you pay 40% of your rent, you will put a dent in the monies owed.
We need the renters and the Landlords to work together during this pandemic or we will have another crisis on top of the already strained affordable housing crisis.
What We Are Facing
- There are over 83.2 million households renting in the U.S. if 50% of these household were evicted, the number would be over 41.6 million eviction cases.
- Once an eviction is filed on a resident it is almost impossible to rent again.
- The Federal Government will have to bail this situation out and the only way to recover this money is through raising taxes.
- Once a tenant is out of the unit, there is no coming back.
- We already have a shortage of Affordable Housing, where would we put all of these people that have been evicted?
We can stop the United States from bleeding if we do something now. Apartment and Housing Rentals Foundation stand by this solution.

With so many renters in the US especially people who have lost their jobs, renters need to be protected also. We can evict all of these people and leave them on the street especially now
I’m currently homeless and I have 3 kids and they all are under the age of 5 and I’m currently pregnant with my 4 child need a place to stay
Yes! It's too much, but we can stop the bleeding right now. I am getting stories from different states about how the Landlords are evicted despite the Cares Act. But the Cares Act only protects less than 43 million units. That's around the number I predicted in this petition. With this plan, each party can be protected! I’m signing because I have one judgement against me and it’s hard to find an apartment.
