This petition is to show Edinburgh Council that St Catherine's primary school, Gracemount NEEDS to have 2 teachers for their p1 intake class. In 2010, a school in the area was not only closed, but demolished against the wishes of the community, now St Catherines school is having to turn away around 30 applicants to p1 as a result. The past two years, this school has been granted 2 teachers which has meant they can cater for up to 34 children, max but the council are now saying the population should have 'normalised' by now so no extra teacher allocation is being given, despite people who have come into the school in the past 2yrs having younger siblings looking to get in but now being rejected. Edinburgh council needs to be made aware that a second teacher is required to ease this issue within the community and that they cant have expected the fall out from demolishing a school to last only 2yrs when there are people bringing up families here.
