The Highland Council is planning to make 344 classroom assistants redundant in primary schools across our region. The removal of classroom assistants compromises the education of children at a crucial early stage in their personal development. This has been done without consultation and disregards the vital work that each of our classroom assistants is responsible for.
“We, the undersigned, call on the Highland Council to reverse their decision and retain the services of the classroom assistants in all primary schools. They provide our teachers and children with vital support”.
The Highland Council has not yet responded to our concerns regarding the proposed redundancy of classroom assistants. I am currently preparing a formal letter to address how these cuts will negatively impact the quality of education for our children.

My son gets so much help from his classroom assistant. taking them away is going to ruin his confidence at school. please rethink this.
