The current council administration, recently having reviewed the Primary School Estate, have proposed that Gartconner Primary should merge with Harestanes, Hillhead and Oxgang Primaries on either the current Oxgang/St Flannan's site. In addition to this they also need to account for nursery provision of at least 90 kids and a unit for Merkland, which could also be attached to the school.
No thought has been given for the traffic congestion around these sites, no educational benefits for the move have been given and a school roll of 651 (excluding nursery) is not appropriate for a primary.
Please help to save Gartconner Primary by signing this petition to show the council we are not happy with these proposals.

650 kids in one building is way to many. You cant expect teachers to manage that many children properly. Ridiculous.
Has anyone from the council actually tried driving there at 8:45am? Doesnt seem like it.
Totally disagree with this plan. No sense at all.
My kids go here and we love it. Moving them to a massive mega school is just wrong. Stop these cuts now.
Gartconner is a great school with a real community feel. Why fix what isnt broken?? LEAVE IT ALONE.

Keep our local school open! The traffic around that area is a total nightmare already, adding a massive new school there is just asking for an accident to happen.
