The administration is still refusing to budge on the summer laptop collection policy. Text three classmates tonight and tell them to put their names down so we can prove how many of us need these devices for our applications.

The administration is finally feeling the pressure because of the momentum we have built together. Go to the school Facebook page now and post our link in the comments section to keep the conversation going. Email your grade level dean this afternoon and demand a meeting on our summer access policy.

My college counselor wants me to work on my college application over summer. Unfortunately I, along with many others, do not have my own device at home that would be a reasonable way to work on my application.
I don’t believe that we should be punished for the wrongdoings of the underclassmen. Because of this, the vast majority of the senior class is taking a major hit which could effect the application process. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PREPARING FOR COLLEGE. Allow us to display our maturity and independence by giving us the necessary components to become the best college applicants we can be.
As a college preparatory secondary school, ‘Iolani School should prioritize reasonable needs of their students and faculty over the expenditures and simple convenience. This decision to take back the iPads before summer puts the class of 2020 at a huge disadvantage in the college application process. We are highly encouraged by the CCO to spend time over the summer researching and preparing for college, however this will be extremely difficult for us as MANY students do not have the alternative methods that ITS encourages us to use at home (PCs, MAC, etc).
We should be able to use our iPads over the summer so we can not only keep up with summer reading though the use of extext, but also get ahead on school courses by downloading texts ahead of time. We would also need it in order to draft college essays and work on college documents over the summer. Personally i dont bave a computer aside from my iPad, and my phone wont work for most of these needs, so the iPad is almost a necessity.
For people traveling to visit colleges, iPads make taking notes on tours much easier to organize and refer back to later.
We must overthrow the Tyranny of ITS

I need the iPad over the summer because I need to use it for managing my trips for athletic competition purposes and this could be detrimental to my career in the future because this summer is particularly significant to whether I get into college or not. Please reconsider the options and think about what is best for the students. Thank you.
