Neighbors:
Orologio restaurant at 162 Avenue A is now for sale. A restauranteur from Portland, OR has proposed to buy it and the liquor license and transform this neighbrohood restaurant into another very expensive, high-end tourist destination restaurant and bar called the Beagle. Here is a sample of items from the menu:
Appetizers:
Braised and Pressed Pig Head - $16
Bacon Wrapped Rabbit Loin - $18
Roasted Bone Marrow w/foie gras - $18
Entrees:
Pan Roasted Squab - $27
Braised Lamb Neck - $25
Flat Iron Steak - $31
Sipping Cocktails:
"The Tuxedo" - Boodles Gin, Dolin Vermouth, Luxardo Maraschino, Pernod Absinthe - $15
The menu clearly shows this is not a business that will serve the needs of the community and will bring more cabs, limos and crowds of tourists to Ave. A b/t 10th & 11th. Please join us in opposing the opening of this establishment. We feel the neighborhood needs businesses that serve the needs of residents, not tourists. Please indicate your address in the comments section.
The momentum behind this effort proves that our neighbors are fed up with businesses that ignore our community needs. Post the link to your Facebook page and email your city representative to demand they block this license. We are forcing them to pay attention.

Enough with these overpriced places. We cant even afford to live here anymore and now we have to deal with $15 cocktails? Keep this garbage out of our neighborhood.

Used to be a real community here. Now it is just for tourists with too much money. Stop selling out the block.

Seriously? Another one? We need a grocery store or a pharmacy not a place that serves pig head for 16 bucks. The EV is becoming a caricature of itself.
