Title:

Petition to reconsider & modify Yutzy Property - Onyx & East - 7345 Hayden Run Rd plan

Target Audience (Who receives this):

Hilliard City Council & Planning and Zoning Commission

Petition Description & Summary:

As residents of the Tarlton Meadows in Hilliard, we are deeply concerned about the recently advanced development plans for Yutzy Property - Onyx & East - 7345 Hayden Run Rd. Link to Property Picture

While we support balanced growth in our community, the current plan approved by the Planning & Zoning Commission on October 8, 2026, raises serious concerns regarding:

  • Issue 1 - Increased Traffic Congestion & Safety Hazards: The proposed layout deepens already significant safety risks and bottlenecks along Tarlton Blvd where families walk and drive daily.
  • Issue 2 - Inadequate Neighborhood Input: The modifications moving through the approval pipeline do not reflect the lived reality or safety needs of the residents directly impacted by this site.
  • Issue 3 - Enforcement Actions from previous development still ongoing: The neighborhood has gone through several development phases already. Why should another be approved before existing issues are addressed?

Our Call to Action:

We, the undersigned local residents and taxpayers, formally request that the Hilliard City Council send this development plan back for substantive revision. Traffic and safety along Tarlton Blvd needs to be addressed by adding an additional entrance from Hayden Run Rd. Existing enforcement actions need to be closed before new development should begin.

Please connect with Hilliard Police on how many traffic complaints they get from our neighborhood, specifically on Sugar Run and Tarlton Blvd. More entrances are needed.

Traffic is already bad and this will make it worse. With no new exits entering off Hyden Run, all this will do is endanger kids safety and cause more traffic while lower property values.

Live on the Main Street of where this will be affected and cars already go way too fast. More traffic means busier and more fast drivers.

Current traffic on Major Way and Sugar Run Road is dangerously congested and narrow, already causing vehicle collisions due to street parking and two-way traffic. Adding more homes without new access points severely threatens neighborhood safety. We urge officials to review infrastructure and establish additional entry/exit routes before approving further residential expansion.

For the same reasons already stated by others (construction vehicles going through the neighborhood damaging roads and causing slowdowns, added traffic from new residents without appropriate infrastructure to support, additional slowness and inefficiency by an already strained HOA, etc.). The current infrastructure is simply not enough to safely support this plan as proposed.

Let’s keep traffic optimized through Tarlton Meadows by adding this access point. There are many young children who walk through the neighborhood, so minimizing unnecessary traffic protects them.

A well-planned and properly-developed community includes enough entry and exit points to support the number of houses in the development. Another exit on Hayden Run is important to cut down on the congestion on Sugar Run and Tartlton Blvd, in addition to preventing extra traffic on Cat Singer Circle. I have narrowly avoided accidents on the curve on Sugar Run due to cars parked on both sides, low visibility due to the curve, and drivers in too much of a hurry.
