Remove the USPS mailboxes in our neighborhood in Salinas
The problem, is that last year in September 2025, the USPS stopped mail services by the mail carrier, supposedly due to a loose dog that was about to bite a postal worker. All of a sudden, the USPS without letting us know about the mailboxes being installed in the neighborhood, they did not call us, send a letter through the mail. No communication they went through with this of installing the mailboxes.
The reason why I want to remove them, is that there are elderly people living in the neighborhood to go retrieve their mail, and most of them cannot go in their own and pick it up, plus it is tedious for everyone to be stopping and picking up their mail. I want to collect signatures and give them to Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren and the postmaster of the USPS so they can get removed now!

I fully support this petition! USPS never informed us of the change or explained why it was being made. Our mail was held at the post office for days without any prior warning before the sidewalk mailboxes were installed. Then one day the boxes magically appeared on the corner. Our neighborhood deserves communication and consideration, especially for our elderly residents and those with mobility challenges.
Two mailboxes were installed on sidewalks at the corner of my property. Not only is it an unwanted and ugly intrusion at the corner of my property but now there is much foot and car traffic at that corner. It devalues my property value. I feel invaded and threatened by the increased traffic and my house.
