We call on Dubbo Regional Council to reinstate the Troy Gully Foot Bridge as soon as possible.
In August 2026, the main foot bridge in Troy Gully was partly dismantled without consultation or advice to the Troy Gully Community or the Troy Gully Landcare Group. This bridge is the main crossing used every day by locals, linking the east side and the west side of Troy Gully. Without it, people are expected to walk an extra 1 to 1.5 kms just to cross the gully and get back. That is a long and unnecessary detour for walkers, children, and the wider community who have relied on this route for everyday access.
The Troy Gully Foot Bridge was not just a piece of timber and metal. It was a practical link that helped people move safely and easily through their neighbourhood. Its loss has made daily life harder for local residents and reduced access for everyone who used it regularly.
Members of the Troy Gully Community have also recently consulted with a professional Carpenter/Builder to provide a quote to reconstruct the foot bridge, and this information should be known by mid-November. That means there is already a path forward and a local community ready to help restore what was lost.
We ask Dubbo Regional Council to work with the Troy Gully Community and the Troy Gully Landcare Group to reinstate the foot bridge and return this important crossing to regular use. All signatures below live within 5kms from Troy Gully and are asking for a swift and practical solution.
We have been using that footbridge since we moved to the area in 1991. It's necessary for safe and varied walking trails around Troy Gully, an important natural reserve for residents of East Dubbo. The footbridge is a necessary conduit for residents living on either side of the gully. Our family was involved in planting natives in the gully in the 1990's and would appreciate the footbridge being reinstated.
