Penfield residents deserve a seasonal leaf pickup service. Every autumn, families and neighbors spend hours bagging and hauling leaves by hand, doing hard work that takes time, energy, and money. Penfield is the only town on the Eastside that does not offer this basic service, and it is time for our town to catch up.
A town-wide leaf pickup program would make life easier for residents, help keep streets and yards cleaner, and modernize town services in a practical way. This is the kind of improvement that benefits the whole community, especially people who do not have the time, tools, or physical ability to handle piles of leaves on their own.
We are gathering signatures to urge the Penfield Town Board to purchase the necessary equipment and launch a town-wide seasonal leaf pickup service. We want autumn 2026 to be the last season Penfield residents are expected to bag leaves themselves.
Join your neighbors and support this needed upgrade for Penfield. Let’s get this done.
I’ve lived in several towns over the years and this is the only one that doesn’t provide this service, and it has the highest taxes of everywhere I have lived. We cannot burn them, so we should have a reasonable alternative. This may be a fake narrative, but I have heard it was said that the reason is that not every home owner has mature trees so it makes it unfair. I also do not have any children, but I pay my school taxes every year without objection.
