Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville ([email protected])
We, the undersigned residents of Whitchurch-Stouffville, are writing to formally express our strong opposition to the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment for a large-scale "Place of Worship" and institutional assembly facility at 12662 Tenth Line.
While community growth is expected, this specific proposal at the Tenth Line location raises significant concerns regarding municipal planning, infrastructure, and neighborhood compatibility:
Incompatible Land Use: Introducing a high-capacity institutional and assembly facility into this rural/transition area conflicts with the established character, scale, and long-term planning vision of the neighborhood.
Traffic and Road Safety: Tenth Line and surrounding rural infrastructure are not designed or equipped to handle the anticipated surge in traffic volume, turning movements, and congestion during peak operational hours and major events.
Lack of Supporting Infrastructure: The site lacks adequate municipal transit connectivity, wastewater, and public services to sustainably support high-density visitor traffic.
Environmental and Agricultural Preservation: Development of this scale threatens the local rural landscape, open spaces, and natural features of the area.
We urge the Whitchurch-Stouffville Town Council and the planning authorities to prioritize responsible municipal and rural planning, listen to local residents, and vote NO on the proposed zoning amendment at 12662 Tenth Line.
As a local resident, I'm deeply concerned about traffic and road safety. Tenth Line cannot handle the increased volume, especially during peak hours. Council must listen to the community.
