We, the residents of Boone, Iowa, ask the city to stop the proposed and ongoing colocation center, also known as a data center, from moving forward in our community.
This petition is for the people who live in Boone to make our voices heard. A project like this can bring real burdens to a town like ours. Data centers often mean heavy power use, strain on local water and utility resources, more industrial traffic, noise from cooling equipment, and changes to the character of the neighborhoods around them. For a city like Boone, those impacts can be felt not just by the nearest homes, but across the whole community.
We are not standing against progress. We are standing up for Boone and for the people who live here. Any development in our city should protect our quality of life, respect our neighborhoods, and fit the needs of the community.
We call on Boone city leaders to listen to the residents of Boone, Iowa, and to reject this project. Our community deserves a future that supports families, protects local resources, and keeps Boone a place people are proud to call home.
My main concern is environmental, and not just water conservation. Wildlife is negatively affected by the noise data centers generate and our state has been gutted enough for development. Besides, I think Boone should listen to its citizen's concerns, but I don't think that's necessarily important to those in charge currently.
