Even with impeccable time management the MALL is still a coin toss to get into on time and even if you do get there 'on time' (10-15 mins early) the room is always full and there is a pool of 300 students outside. Arriving any earlier leads to the risk of leaving class early resulting in little to no attendance (albeit a lower percentage of our grade but a percentage of our grade nonetheless) . Each MALL assignment is 2hrs 30mins on average I would say it takes a student 45mins-1hr from entering to leaving with their satisfied score. that perfectly sits within the 1hr 45min recitation on Friday's with time to spare to go through that short recitation sheet if needed that takes maximum 45 mins. Furthermore those recitations are managed by GTAs the same people who help in the MALL so they are obviously qualified to do the merge and still effectively help. Smaller class sizes also means faster help and faster exit times for students leading to, on average better grades.
The MALL due to its crowding is an obvious safety concern too. in that area there is maximum 25 seats and 300+ students this could lead to a heavy lack of personal space, a living hell for students with claustrophobia and leg/back pain for standing for one hour.

I'm signing b/c I think it's insane that a ticketing system a la Disney-level wait times is extremely unnecessary for an assignment. Just because we're near Disney doesn't mean we need to operate like it, not to mention the health risks of being in a crowded space with Flu, Covid, and bounce cough going around campus this fall.
Unfortunately I work tuesdays and Thursdays and only can go the mall after class. By the time I get there the line is absurd I get in by 8 or 8:15 pm, leaving me only one attempt to do the assignment defeating the purpose of the MALL. Standing there for over an hour is a monumental waste of my time as I have other classes that I need to make time for.
Due to work schedules on Tuesday and thursdays, I am fully limited to mall assignments on Mondays and Wednesday, the days in which it is the most packed due to the same reason as mine for many other students, a change in the schedule or the system is necessary, the current system is way too abusive and restrictive by giving such short hours and making it required to do.
i have class during the only times i could get there early and every single time ive gone it was a 2 hour wait (each on different days) IF i get in, usually it leaves me with only 10-20 minutes to do the assignment which is not nearly enough to be able to focus
I work every day and Fridays are my only day pff where I could do these without rush
I’m signing this petition because I do understand how effective and useful the mall could be however I think it should be not IP addressed to the room and people can either do it anywhere as a normal assignment like the homework and if they do need help, then they can go to the mall, but everyone being forced to go there when there’s not enough space for the amount of students taking this course and also it being restricted to certain hours and days doesn’t work for everyone bc of other classes
Waiting for hours, to get at the most 30mins to work. And can’t do multiple attempts cause of time restraint.
