The Problem:
Our local ambulance station has become a safe haven for station cats. These cats are not just pets; they are an essential part of our emergency response family. EMS personnel face extreme stress, traumatic calls, and high burnout rates on every shift. Coming back to the station and interacting with these cats provides vital emotional support, lowers blood pressure, and offers a crucial mental health break that helps our first responders cope with the demands of their jobs. Removing them would deeply hurt station morale and the well-being of the crew.
The Action Request:
We, the undersigned, formally request that management allow the cats to permanently stay at the ambulance station. We ask that leadership work directly with the crew to establish safe, clean guidelines for their care rather than implementing a total ban.

These furry creatures offer emotional support at the end of a stressful day. It is nice to see a friendly face. They also offer protection in the form of rodent control. Helping to keep our station free of any would be vermin who may be lurking. I and many other crew members enjoy seeing these little guys bring a bit of cheer to the station. Please allow them to continue their gaurded protection under our care. Save the cats!
I was a firefighter for six years. We had a station dog that was actually pretty helpful to us after certain calls. Animals can sense stress and have been proven to be beneficial to have around in stressful times

These cats are a great source of comfort, especially after a long and exhausting workday. There's really nothing to debate about it. Cats are extremely helpful when it comes to keeping an area free of pests, especially insects and rodents that can damage items stored in a warehouse. People who work in healthcare should show empathy not only toward their human patients but also toward animals—especially those that provide both emotional comfort and practical benefits.

The cats give me something to look forward to in the morning, when I come to work. They actually brighten up my early mornings. I love seeing them.
