Hello Everyone, We attended the Commission meeting on June 24, 2026, where the JPA was approved. However, Torrance County Dispatch is still at risk of being shut down and moved to Bernalillo County. We are continuing to seek support regarding this matter. The next meeting will be held on July 8, 2026, at 9:00 AM. We encourage our community members, responders, and stakeholders to attend, either in person or online. Thank you for signing the petition and for your continued support of our dispatchers.

No way this should even be considered!! You have to live out here to know. Roads with no names or in some cases signs are gone. Back roads on top of back roads. Emergencies need to be gotten too ASAP...

Locally employed staff have better knowledge of how to get places and what to prioritize for their communities. Moving it to a different County means delayed response, lower prioritize response, inability to get service to place that don't have actual address or "cross streets" but directions by mile markers, landmarks, etc. All of this will delay service. Sacrificing Torrance County residence for a contract services take jobs from the community and will compromise "emergency" services.

This is an absolutely horrific idea. This county is rural and needs dispatchers that understand not every road is marked and sometime you have to go by landmarks. You have to know this area, to be able to effectively dispatch in this area!

Outsourcing our emergency services to another agency is not only stupid, it poses a hazard to every citizen of the county. Response times will sky rocket. We will be dealing with emergency dispatchers that have no familiarity with the county or it's responding agencies.

Sending our dispatch out of county hurts our community they will not know the area like current dispatchers. The county commissioners are literally handing money out to other counties when the move business like this out of outlr area and fail the county more than they already do.

Keeping dispatch local is a necessary safety action. Outsourcing will result in delayed services and potential loss of life.

This is only common sense to the importance of local dispatchers to be in the area as they are aware of their neighbors needs and personally able to help us in emergencies.
