Improve Baseball Experience at Dellwood Park
We need lighting added to the baseball fields at Dellwood Park so our Pinto, Pony, and Colt level athletes can finish their full season without games being cut short by the early sunset.
We are already in the early stages of fall, and our players are seeing games negatively affected as daylight fades earlier each evening. When the light goes, the field goes with it, and our athletes lose the chance to play the full game they prepared for. That is not fair to the players, their families, or the many volunteers who support them.
The LBB Board has continued discussions with the Park District about the importance of adding lighting to these fields. We support that effort and ask the Park District to move this forward. Lighting would help ensure that all athletes in our communities are offered a fair opportunity to complete their full season at Dellwood Park.
This is about more than convenience. It is about giving young athletes a real chance to practice, compete, and finish what they started. It is about making sure the season is not quietly shortened for some teams just because the sun sets too early.
We ask the Park District to listen to the LBB community and act now to improve the baseball experience at Dellwood Park.

We need to upgrade our facilities to compete with the surrounding areas. Out park has the the space and ability to hold major tournaments but with out upgrades to the fields such as some lore turf, better care, and lights we can’t compete
Lights are necessary!!
We are behind compared to other districts. It would help with scheduling and the boys now and in the future deserve it.
Use the park facilities and have a child in youth sports.

The youth of Lockport depend on it
Upgrades to youth sports fields is necessary. To be able to accommodate the amount of teams and day light I feel the park district owes it to the tax payers to invest in its fields to provide a better playing experience.

As a parent of 2 boys who play baseball this is a great idea. Let the kids play under some lights.
