We call on DistroKid Leadership, the YouTube Content ID Team, and YouTube Creator Support to give immediate transparency and a clear payout timeline for delayed YouTube royalty payments.
Over the past several months, thousands of independent creators who use DistroKid for music distribution have seen missing or significantly delayed YouTube earnings, especially for the July and August cycles. When money from digital music platforms does not arrive on time, it creates real stress for independent artists, producers, songwriters, and label owners who depend on that income to keep their work moving. For many DIY musicians, royalties are not extra money. They help cover living costs, studio equipment, marketing, and future releases.
We understand that financial reporting across digital service providers can be complex, but that does not make silence acceptable. What hurts most is the lack of clear communication and the absence of any firm date for when these funds will be credited to DistroKid Bank. Creators deserve to know what is happening, why it is happening, and when it will be fixed.
We are asking for three simple things. First, provide an immediate status update that explains the cause of the delay and gives a firm timeline for payment. Second, build a public dashboard or tracker so creators can follow DSP reporting status in real time without opening support tickets. Third, make creator support more helpful by giving direct, actionable updates instead of generic automated replies.
Independent music runs on trust, reliable reporting, and fair payment. We urge DistroKid and YouTube to clear this backlog quickly, communicate honestly, and restore confidence to the creator community.
I'm an independent artist waiting for July and August YouTube earnings for over 2 months. DistroKid says "delay on YouTube's end" but gives no date, no transparency. This is my income. We need a real timeline and a public tracker, not copy-paste replies.
