AI slop was used extensively throughout the 2026 Midsummer Scream convention.
Considering the high ticket prices alone, the event organizers should pay real artists to create their event signage, posters, and flyer.
There were actual artists vending at the event that would be more than happy to be commissioned by the event organizers.
The amount of vendors selling and featuring AI slop was ridiculous.
If they can't take the time to develop a skill, why should they take the place of a real artist?
Why should attendees give money to a vendor who couldn't be bothered to develop a skill? Why do they occupy a vending booth that a real artist could have used for their work?
This objective of this petition is to relay to the event organizers of Midsummer Scream that AI slop should be banned from the event.

Using ai makes vendors and haunts look cheap. If you cant pay an artist to make your logo or banner, why should i want to pay for your product?
Seeing ai openly promoted and used by companies representing creativity based events such as haunt is extremely disheartening. It makes the events feel lazy and as if they dont really care for the events their taking part in. Plus the convention staff and runners allowing this in when the vender rules state no ai is allowed is so crazy to me
As an artist, I was severely disappointed to see no regulations implemented. I inquired about a space in late spring and was told vendor spots were full. Yes, I asked late in the setup process but to see Ai generated images for sale, it severely made me question if I even wanted to return as a vendor in 2027.
I recently lost my position as Lead Graphic Designer because the company I worked for (for many years) has replaced me with AI. It’s an already difficult world for an artist. Allowing extensive use of AI makes it even more difficult for artists, like me, who truly love creating.
Saw way too many vendors this year advertising with AI It’s embarrassing. Makes me feel like they’re just in it for the money. These people out of our community
The haunt community is all about DIY, showcasing small artists, and pushing the boundaries the world sets. AI has no place in this space.
Let real artists display their creativity!!!! No AI slop.

As a creative, it is so unfair that pro AI businesses are taking away spaces from real artists and businesses who genuinely deserve a spot in the artist alley. AI is terrible for the environment and is overall a lazy shortcut to promote a business, create art, and showcase your works. Businesses that put their all into their works without the use of AI are more deserving to be at cons, they’ve put more thought, effort, and dedication into their crafts than those typing in a prompt for AI to make
