Great move! A lot students are faced with this, and we as educator need to know how and when to address this issue and redirect the negativity elsewhere.

As a parent of children that were at one time in the Hawaii public school system, I am shocked and appalled that these events occurred. There is no place for this in today's society let alone in a school!!! It is so very sad to me that a Bill is needed requiring state certified teachers to to take a tolerance course/workshop but obviously there is, so let's make it happen!!

My daughter had so many issues while attending a private school in Hawaii that is was exhausting speaking to the administration of the school.

How does a teacher have no reaction to that being said?!?! These teachers are failing our children. Have they given up and don't care? To clarify I am specifically referring to the two teachers involved in this situation. I know some truly amazing teachers and wouldn't lump them into this conversation with these poor excuses for an adult never mind a teacher who molds the impressionable minds of our youth. Sad.
