Time and time again we see that the regulations for hate crimes at BC are tolerated and loop holed to take pity on students when it comes to these social injustices. We are calling on you, the student-body to put change within your own hands and create a better environment at this school for all people. Boston College should eliminate the “bias-related incident” portion of the protocol. This lessons the level of the discriminatory crimes that have been committed. These are hate crimes and should be treated as such. In reporting incidents to an official, you can not do so without the name of the assailant. Clearly these punishments already in place are mot enough if history continues to repeat itself. We also want to educate the uneducated with having an actual mandated diversity course regarding African-American culture and history. Along with students allowed to sit in at the Forum discussions regarding diversity at BC.

Seeing this conversation expand beyond my initial expectations reminds me that a collective demand for accountability is difficult to ignore. This momentum confirms that so many of you are ready to move past empty protocols and toward genuine change.

What has happened here is unacceptable and is turning into a scary trend rather than just an isolated event. We need to push for change now more than ever.
This is sad that many young black students have deal with so much hatred in this time. Hopefully this will be reported to the NAACP.
Main reason why we question whether to attend a PWI because of this ongoing hate and racism
Although I'm not a bc student, or even from Boston I feel racial equality should be happening everywhere.
Really believe this petition is a stepping stone for creating change in our BC community & also will spark conversation amongst other communities.
I have signed for more justice in this world.
Change is a must. We demand justice, racial justice, social justice !!

Its wild that the school keeps sweeping this under the rug like it isnt happening. We need real consequences for these actions, not just some weak bias protocol.
