Petition: Year 5 / 6 Camp Cancellation – 2026
We, the undersigned parents and caregivers, are requesting that the school reconsider its decision to cancel the 2026 Year 5 / 6 camp.
The cancellation was announced on the basis of cost, yet no consultation, survey, or discussion was held with families regarding the financial impact or possible alternatives. Year 5 / 6 camp is a significant milestone in our children’s final year of primary school. It provides social, emotional, and educational experiences that cannot be replicated in the classroom, and it plays an important role in preparing students for high school.
By signing this petition, you are expressing that:
- You do not support the cancellation of the 2026 Year 5 / 6 camp
- You believe parents should have been consulted before such a major decision was made
- You want the school to explore options that allow the camp to proceed, including payment plans, fundraising, or alternative venues
- You want our children to experience all aspects of school life in their final year, including the tradition and developmental value of Year 5 / 6 camp
We respectfully ask the school leadership and governing body to review this decision with full parent consultation and to work with families toward a solution that keeps the Year 5 / 6 camp on the calendar for 2026.

Really unfair to take this opportunity off the table for those kids. Even after the issues with the 2025 camp, there shouldn't be such a huge decision made without parental input! So disappointing for my friends kids.
I call for the immediate repeal of the decision to cancel the Stage 3 camps and for meaningful consultation with parents and carers to occur now. The decision was made without parent input, despite the camp being a vital educational and social experience for students. Families deserve transparency, communication, and a genuine opportunity to be heard before decisions of this significance are finalised.
I really think its disappointing that there wasn't a conversation with parents about the cancellation of year 6 camp. I really believe the kids deserve a camp to create one final memory for their last year of Primary school!
Son is in year 4, so if this is the start of camp cancelations he'd be devastated
We as parents should have been consulted or at least had a meeting to discuss other options or have the final say if the camp will be to expensive or not. The school needs to reconsider this and sit down with the parents to discuss. I find time and time again the school makes the decisions for us as parents and the students and they are the ones to have to miss out on poor decision making.
Be better for the children and let them go to Camp! Why should they miss out on experiencing school camp because of something outside of their control.
There has been no communication about this decision and so disappointing for the kids who look forward to this milestone event.

My daughter has just finished school at NVPS and I have 2 other children yet to come through. Decisions like these make me consider applying for other schools in the area!
