Petition to reconsider the proposed reorganisation of the current year 3 classes for the academic year 2026/2027

To: The Headteacher and Governing Body of Cotwall End Primary School

We, the undersigned parents and carers of pupils attending Cotwall End Primary School, wish to express our concerns regarding the proposed plan to reorganise and mix the current year 3 classes for the upcoming academic year.

While we appreciate that decisions are made with the school's best interests in mind, many parents are concerned about the potential impact this change may have on our children. Our children have developed established friendships, support networks, and positive relationships within their current classes, which contribute significantly to their confidence, wellbeing, and learning.

We believe that changing class groups at this stage may:

• Cause unnecessary anxiety and uncertainty for pupils.
• Disrupt established friendships and support systems.
• Affect children's emotional wellbeing and confidence.
• Impact continuity in learning and classroom development.
• Be particularly challenging for children who are less confident or who have additional educational, SEND or emotional needs.

We respectfully request that the school:

1. Reconsider the decision to mix the classes for the next academic year.
2. Provide a detailed explanation of the educational benefits and rationale behind the proposed changes.
3. Give a clear outline of what has already been done to try and tackle any challenges that have led to this decision
4. Consult meaningfully with parents and carers before any final decision is implemented.
5. Explore alternative options that would minimise disruption to pupils while still meeting the school's objectives.

This petition is submitted in the spirit of constructive partnership between parents and the school, with the shared goal of ensuring the best possible educational and emotional outcomes for all children.
