Continue The 2026 Matric Dance
We, the Grade 12 learners of Lukhanyo High School, respectfully ask the School Management and Governing Body to continue the 2026 Matric Dance and not cancel it.
The Matric Dance is more than a social event. It is an important milestone in our final year of school and a chance for Grade 12 learners, teachers, and families to celebrate the hard work, growth, and memories that have brought us to this point. For many of us, it is one of the last big moments we will share together as a school community.
We understand that the school may have reasons for considering cancellation, but we ask that this decision be reconsidered carefully. It is not fair to the learners and families who have already paid for the necessary items for the dance and prepared in good faith for this occasion.
We also ask parents and guardians to stand with us by supporting this petition. Your support can show the school that this event matters to the learners and their families, and that it deserves to be protected.
We are not asking for anything unreasonable. We are simply asking for the opportunity to experience a once in a lifetime event and to celebrate it responsibly and respectfully.
As the Class of 2026, we would deeply appreciate the chance to mark this final milestone together. We therefore humbly ask the School Management, Governing Body, and parents to support the continuation of the 2026 Matric Dance.

This is the last and final year students will possibly ever be together. I think students should be able to celebrate, not only for fun but for how far they've come, and they have achieved and the bright future ahead of them. They are only ever gonna be this age, doing their final year only once. They should have something to commemorate this
Because our kids need to have a great day at the dance to feel that eir hard work was not for nothing but was to boost their challenges
Because it's my right to celebrate my last year as a matric student.Its officially school out so I really need to go
