I have compiled the feedback from this petition into a formal letter to the event organizers. This document outlines the logistical barriers preventing current staff participation and requests a review of the schedule for future iterations.

The volume of support has now reached a level that warrants a formal approach to the Festival committee. I am drafting a letter to the organizers to present these findings and request a meeting to discuss potential scheduling changes.

Where supply is £200 a day+ plus travel, plus any cost of a course, weekday CPD has become a thing of the past for most teachers. Have the Festival analysed attendance in the past? My guess is mostly those who aren't full time in school or school leaders who make the decisions.
If this is a genuinely inclusive event then it should be open to ordinary teachers to attend at the weekend. if it is for the "experts", the usual suspects & edu industry then weekdays are fine.
In the past, I've attended several Teach Meet / CPD events on Saturdays and in the evening after work. Missing a day off work is so expensive for my school. Further, I find it difficult to sacrifice a day's work for my students- especially the year 11 classes.
A teachers' event in school time will only be attended by teachers from rich schools who are happy for their students to sit in cover lessons all day. I am not such a teacher. Many schools are rightly taking steps to cut back on cover lessons.
I'd love to attend the Wellington festival, but as a primary school teacher I can't take a day out of school. I'd happily go on a weekend though, and have recently attended some excellent conferences that took place on weekends or evenings.
Weekends would be better. Hard to get schools to agree to Friday cover costs and ticket/travel costs
