To Whom It May Concern: We, the undersigned residents and voting members of the Woodbury Community Association, are in support of the creation of a private, fenced dog park in Woodbury. Many communities in Irvine, Ladera Ranch, and Huntington Beach have this feature. We strongly support the creation of a private dog park where a key fob, as used to access the private pools and common areas, is needed for entry and is accessible only by Woodbury Residents. Unfortunately, Irvine City dog parks are poorly regulated and expose our dogs to disease and dangerously aggressive dogs. Despite our discussions with Irvine Animal Control, those parks have continued to be mismanaged. As paying and voting members of this community, we urge the Woodbury Community Association to consider designating/converting one of the many smaller parks as a dog park, by enclosing a grassy area with attractive fencing. A fenced dog park with access to only Woodbury Residents would provide benefits to both dog owners and non-dog owners, including some of the following: 1. All other parks would be more sanitary and free of dog mess 2. Fenced area provides additional safety for young children and others who may prefer having pets properly restrained 3. Dog owners will have a safe place to let their beloved dogs run and play, without being restrained by a leash, and without interfering with the free enjoyment by others of the other parks Based on the above reasons as well as many others, we urge the Woodbury Community Association to consider our request.
