The Winnacunnet School board recently voted to make Math and English 3 Trimester courses, against the recommendation of the Faculty and Staff. The faculty then implemented a vote of no confidence in the board.
Principal William McGowan, in response to the board's decision, proposed that the school hire 6 new teachers to cover all of these classes. The Board denied McGowan this, stating that they can cover them with the current staff.
The faculty is not against the board's decision, they are against the timeline that goes along with it.
They believe that starting this change next year will have undesired consequences, like the elimination of electives from students' schedules.
To be clear: The board didn't cut electives. However, the decision does make it very difficult or impossible for students to fit them into their schedule. This means that the elective could slowly get cut because not enough students are enrolled in them.
There have already been 2 resignations as a result of the Board's actions.

Ridiculous that they think current staff can just absorb all these extra classes. It is not possible to do that well.
