Anyone who travels along Creedmoor Rd., between Strickland Rd. and NC-98 knows that this two-lane road is congested on a regular basis. With over 24,000 cars per day that travel this stretch of road, the traffic continues to increase, along with the likelihood of accidents, and substantial delays. Due to continued growth in the area and the increasing number of commuters and residents, metered light devices have been added to the I-540 west ramp at Creedmoor Rd. to ease traffic on the I-540. However, there is potential for these devices to cause more even more congestion and delays during rush hour for southbound drivers on Creedmoor.
Creedmoor Rd. is long overdue to be widened. Currently, the widening project for NC-50 is not scheduled to begin until 2025. Therefore, we are asking our State officials to accelerate the timeline and release funding to begin the widening in the next 1-2 years.

I am honestly stunned by the momentum this is gathering. This progress belongs entirely to those of you who spoke up about the daily gridlock we all face. It is incredible to see so many neighbors coming together to push for safer roads.

I was stopped in a line of traffic and rear ended on Creedmoor and both cars were totaled. It took two tow trucks to separate the cars. I had nowhere to go to avoid the crash as there was a ravine on the right and cars coming at me on the left. Creedmoor Road cannot handle the volume of traffic it has and I have been passed several times on a double yellow line with traffic coming when I was going 55 MPH. This is a very dangerous road and funds should immediately be released for its widening.
Between 98 and Mount Vernon Rd. there’s a wreck at least once every week it’s getting to be quite ridiculous today December 15 there was four or five different wrecks from 98 up to Norwood Road between there in Mount Vernon this highway has too much traffic people flying up and down there needs to be something done for the residents that live on this road and I have to travel between it
Very difficult and dangerous to enter NC 50 from side roads. Have seen several near accidents!
I take 50 into work almost every morning. The road is so narrow that large trucks driving correctly will still almost clip you going the opposite direction.
I have a new driver come October and would love this road to be safer. We see accidents all the time.

the traffic is insane. With limited options to cross 540 it makes it nearly impossible to get into Raleigh if there is an incident. Time to show the north side of Raleigh some love widen the road between 540 and Highway 98
