The St Johns County residents who have signed this petition are asking our elected representatives to work with the State of Florida Department of Transportation and the Developers in St Johns county to implement a plan to widen State Road 16 now. We have been told by county officials for years that it is the Developer's fault for not paying their "fair share". And, we have been told by Developers that impact fees have been paid with every development that have not been spent properly. We are not trying to "throw stones" at anyone. The truth is likely somewhere in the middle. All we are asking is that everyone work together and transparently to make this happen for the good of our residents. Commuters from Clay, Bradford and Union counties travel State Road 16 to get to the east coast. St Johns county residents travel State Road 16 to get to central Florida. And, many residents who live here have seen significant increases in accidents, traffic delays and diminished quality of life. So, by signing this petition we are saying with a UNITED VOICE "Let's work together to solve this problem today!" Let's put this project at the top of the list! Let's be transparent about the funding! Let's be transparent about necessary coordination with State officials. And, Let's get the job done! We ask our elected officials to take our petition seriously. We deserve to be represented by public servants who will work to improve our quality of life. Thank you!

I am a native of St Augustine, this should have been done first before all the subdivisions were added, the section by the Catholic Church was 4 lanes years ago, the other part from the outlet to Pacetti Rd should have been done first!
SR16 continues to get worse and worse. We witnessed a deadly accident several months ago and don't want to see another. Widening SR16 shouldn't even be an option, its a necessity!
On St Rd 16 west of I95, it seems like there are accidents on a weekly basis, there have even been deaths. People drive way too fast, some will even pass other cars which is ridiculously dangerous on this stretch of narrow two lane road. Commissioner Sarah Arnold one of your pledges is "to focus on improving our infrastructure, which includes ensuring our roadways are safe." Please be our hero and make this happen as soon as possible!
Needs to be widened! It’s so dangerous and the single homes on the street can hardly leave their houses too it’s sad
State Road 16 property frontage was taken by eminent domain in the early 70’s. Widening is long overdue and greatly needed.

I live in Murabella and it is incredibly difficult to get out of my neighborhood , especially during specific times.
