Who is teaching your child? (UK)
Whole classes of children are being ‘taught’ by unqualified staff. This is totally unacceptable.
Every child has a right to be taught by a qualified teacher.
This policy was not founded on the advice of experts in education but led by short sighted financial short cuts with devastating educational, behavioural, emotional and financial consequences for our future generations.
Primary and secondary school budgets are criminally inadequate and the professional expertise and experience of head teachers, class teachers and supply teachers are being disregarded.
Children are not objects, ‘empty vessels’ to be fed information by unqualified staff.
Children have a right to be taught by qualified teachers who are trained to understand their emotional as well as their educational needs.
We must value and invest in our future generations.
This policy is a symptom of the core problem, government are mismanaging our education system.
Schools are in a crisis. Three things must change:
1. The Government must increase primary and secondary school budgets.
2. The Government must stop wasting money on countless ill informed policies and initiatives.
3. The Government must value and incorporate the professional expertise and experience of head teachers, class teachers and supply teachers into all educational policies.
I would like to encourage parents, head teachers, class teachers, supply teachers, support staff, governors, all unions and anyone who cares about children and our future generations to sign this petition.
Leaving a comment would be a bonus but the priority is to collect enough signatures to pressure the government to address the three issues above.
Please ensure any comments are civil and respectful and no personal comments are directed at any individual.
If you agree please sign below.
The government thought they could quietly dismantle our schools while we looked the other way but this momentum proves them wrong. We have hit a critical threshold and the people in power can no longer pretend this crisis is invisible.

Schools are falling apart. Unqualified staff are not the answer to budget cuts. Fix the funding and stop treating our kids like test scores.

Disgraceful. Teaching is a skilled profession and should be treated like one. My daughter deserves real expertise in the classroom.
