As business owners in Duvall and Carnation, we are writing to express our support for both cities to be deemed a Welcoming City! We feel a moral imperative to ensure that our beautiful, fast growing city remain a shining example of American values; inclusivity, diversity, acceptance, compassion, and courage. We feel there is no place for fear in Duvall/Carnation and call on our great City Councils and Mayors to help hold up the umbrella of kindness by joining the Welcoming City Network. We will be in allegiance with cities and counties like Seattle, Tacoma, King County, Salt Lake County, Houston, Boise, Philadelphia, and so many more. We are fortunate to live and do business in one of the most prosperous, safest communities in Washington State. With that privilege, comes responsibility to all our community members. Becoming a Welcoming City is a stop toward clarity and abolishing any fear that might be growing in our community for undocumented folks, Muslim neighbors, LGBTQ, and People of Color. The city council cannot hide from this momentum any longer. People are finally waking up to the fact that our local leaders are dragging their feet while our neighbors live in fear.

As a transwoman who has lived happily in this town for three years, I've never felt ostracized, singled out, or in fear of simply living here. You are already welcoming. And a proclamation of such would be even more welcoming.
Please help protect families in our community to feel safe, wanted and welcome.
I am a mother, community member, business owner and council member and I SUPPORT this 100%. This makes me so sad that in the year 2017 we have to actually say we are a Welcoming City. It should not have to be said it should just BE!!!!
As a mother of children that are enrolled in the Riverview school district, a business owner in the city of Carnation and community member, I support Carnation and Duvall becoming Welcoming Cities.
We have owned Duvall Flowers & Gifts for 14 years now! Love our town and how welcome people feel when they visit. Thank you everyone for supporting love not hate!

I have owned and operated Tracks & Tales Nature School in greater Duvall for almost 10 years. Inclusivity, diversity and compassion are key values we teach and share.
