Dear Citizens:
We have become a Prison Nation incarcerating nearly
4 million people; 27 million are under supervision and close to 2.5 million juveniles
have been arrested since 2009. WHC focuses
on imprisonment within Ohio with
3 major target areas.
(A) Abolition of the Parole Board, (B) Sentencing guidelines are adhered to for all inmates and (C) Rehabilitation is recognized through-out Ohio.
We are petitioning for 400,000 signatures to present to Ohio State Legislature Governor John Kasich Office that Prison Reform is needed in Ohio and through-out the United States.
We propose the following:
(1) Elimination of the Ohio Adult Parole Board Authority in its entirety
(2) Reduction of prison overcrowding (Begin a process of release for old law prisoners sentenced before 1996)
(3) Retro-active penalties to Judges that have sentenced outside of Ohio commissioned sentencing guidelines
(4) Re-Entry program accountability (All re-entry programs that were given monies by the state of Ohio with-in the last 10 years be mandated to present successful data that justifies their programming cost and community re-entry success statistics
(5) Reduction of the recidivism rate utilizing alternative programming for lesser crimes such as 4th & 5th degree felonies
(6) Transitional housing be establish for felons being released
(7) Ensure that all parole and probation departments are adhering to all community re-entry procedures.

Seeing two hundred and fifty signatures on this page creates a heavy weight in my chest because I know how many families are living through this nightmare right now. This is a real start for the people trapped inside who have been forgotten for too long.

I look at these numbers and think of the families waiting for their loved ones to come home from these cells. People are reaching out to me every day with stories that prove why we need this reform now. We are keeping the pressure on the legislature until they acknowledge that our current system is broken.

My brother is an old law inmate,with more than 35 years gone they tell him what a great job he is doing just be patient and keep making him wait for a couple more years for a new parole board hearing,he is 64 years old and has a bad heart ,he was not given a death sentence just( indeterminate) life.
The Ohio Parole Board concentrates ONLY in excessive punishment, giving inmates the maximum sentences after the minimum sentence imposed by Court has been served. They don’t take into account anything an inmate do to earn parole, such as rehabilitation, programming, —achieve academically, family and community support. Something must be done and soon!
Replace Parole Board with a system of mandatory supervised release upon completion of a certain percentage of the sentence.
Pretty bad when the person who actually commits the crime gets out and he lied along with hiding the weapon all recorded but the one who did not do is still sitting in prison after 23 years this is insane...yet we the family are harassed by the person who committed the crime he commit served 15 years!!!!
Innocent people do not belong in prison. Auria M. Morales was framed by the Cincinnati Police in 2007 for a crime she did NOT commit. She was sentenced 15-life after her trial by jury. No evidence, no witness testimony; only a detective and her fabricated story was needed to convince the the jury.
My loved one been in for 12 years under the old law

Parole Board won't release parolees bc they'll have no jobs left-new prisoners are arrested, serve their time and are released while the old law prisoners just rot their lives away:(
