Eliminate Ohio's Parole BoardThe signee(s) of this petition, "Eliminate Ohio's Parole Board", request the immediate removal of the Ohio Parole Board from the current release consideration process for parole eligible offenders. We request that emergency release hearings be conducted for all "Old Law" offenders and parole eligible "New Law" offenders with release consideration based upon objective information utilizing the already established O.R.A.S. (Ohio Risk Assessment System).The signee(s) of this petition also urges OUR legislators to strengthen Ohio's current parole/release considerations laws by:* Eliminating the Ohio Parole Board from the release consideration process for parole eligible offenders;* Adopting an objective evidence-based risk assessment system (ORAS) whih leads to mandatory release guidelines;* Determining mandatory release guidelines which reflect the sentencing range given by the judge;* Recognizing & supporting rehabilitative efforts made during incarceration.Such reforms will further the interest of justice by providing equity and fairness while reducing recidivism. Furthermore, these changes will support fiscal responsibility by releasing low-risk rehabilitated offenders and reducing costs to Ohio's taxpayers.

I have been reading through the honest messages you all are leaving and the depth of frustration with this system is clear. It is overwhelming to see such a dedicated group pushing for objective standards when I originally thought I would be doing this alone. You are the reason this conversation is finally gaining some real traction.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have joined this effort to push for a fairer system in Ohio. This momentum belongs entirely to you because I never imagined this would reach so many people who care about real reform.

Ohio Parole Board is a cruel joke. Each member makes about $100,000 a year to flop Old Law offenders for nature of the crime. They long ago weeded out anyone they were willing to parole.
Over 25 states do not have Parole Boards, and of those who do many have liberty interest in parole meaning the Parole Board cannot use 'serious nature of the crime' to keep an inmate in prison. There is a creation of a new Statute by Representative Andrew Brenner. Hopefully that will stop the Parole Board from their abuse.
The parole board doesn't look st the things inmates have accomplished inside the prison they only focus on the crime they were convitcted of so there is no chance for rehabilitation if that's all the board will look st
They are not fair. when you go up for your first time the answer is always no and give more time. Even if they have not been in any trouble and are doing everything that is asked of them on a daily basis. The judges give a time and that's what it should be nothing more. Get rid of this old law.
Something needs to be done with the parole board and their refusing to grant paroles except to a very small percentage. It seems they have too much power with no oversite. It is a difficult position but they have closed off all hope for paroles and refuse to see the person but rather see them as just a number.
When a prisoner has done their time let them out
No meaningful hearings so what's the point in having a parole board?

The Ohio parole board is corrupt and very bias. They don't realize that the crime will never change but the person has. They don't take into account what the inmate has done to better themselves. They don't look at schooling nor the inmates record since being incarcerated. They treat the inmates like dog poo under their feet.
