We will not be getting married at the Seaport Boston Hotel.

On March 28th, 2014, the Tufts University School of Medicine Gala was shut down four hours early by the Seaport Boston Hotel. No explanation was given to the nearly 480 guests at the time. The open bar was closed. Dinner was taken away. There was no dessert. No dancing. Tens of thousands of dollars were left behind.

We later learned the event was closed because a small number of people had snuck in alcohol, which was in violation of the contract with the hotel. While the hotel was within their legal rights to shut down the event, how many parties of nearly 500 people do they host where no one sneaks in their own alcohol? Rather than confiscating the alcohol and/or ejecting the offending guests, the Seaport Boston Hotel chose to shut down the whole event.

While we won’t be getting our money back, we can tell the Seaport Boston Hotel that their actions have consequences. That night they alienated a large group of Boston-based people with a lot of events to plan in their futures. We signed this petition to tell them that, for us, those events will not be happening at the Seaport Boston Hotel.
