In the wake of the most recent tragic school shooting in Parkland Florida, we have to stop and think are we doing the best we can to keep our schools safe? Yes there are bigger changes that need to be made, but in the meantime we have to ensure our schools are up to date with federal and state safety standards. The best way to do this is for our schools to become Alice certified. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate. Please sign this petition asking super intendant Lisa Hichens to initiate our district in becoming certified in Alice. Let’s take the extra step by providing our schools with the knowledge they need in order to protect themselves in an active shooter situation. We need to be Alice certified.
