I am creating this petition in hopes to gain your support to protect not only my children but all of our children. Lewisville Independent School District is the 17th biggest school district out of 1,227 school districts in the state of Texas and within the top 100 in the United States. Which services more than 58000 children, more than 2000 members of the staff in 69 different schools over a 127 square mile radius. Which includes the following cities/towns:

Lewisville, The Colony, Flower Mound, Highland Village, Copper Canyon, and Double Oak as well as portions of Plano, Carrollton, Frisco, Hebron, Coppell, Grapevine and Argyle.

In light of the recent school shootings. I believe that it is in the best interest for the safety of our children and staff, to have metal detectors at the entrance to try to prevent anyone from entering with any weapons. And to have trained and armed faculity on each campus. Like many other school districts in Texas, such as Argyle ISD and Keene ISD. A school shooting typically takes place in less than 5 minutes. Most police response time is 7 minutes. We could have staff on each campus, that would go through extensive training and mental evaluations every 2 years, to protect our children until first responders (police and medical personnel) arrive on scene. I intend to present this petition to our school board members and superintendent and I am hoping to gain your support today to help protect, not only my children, but all of our children.
