The last year has been extremely trying on teachers, parents and most importantly, the students. The long-lasting effects of students being shut out of the schools is unknown but the signs as of now are not good. For some students school is the only place they receive sufficient nutrition, it can be a safe place from abuse and neglect, and it is the best place for them to learn, from their amazing teachers that in the last year, we have all learned how vital they are in the lives and development of our children.

It is time that we safely, and responsibly open the schools, while also giving those that choose to, the opportunity to continue with virtual learning. We as stakeholders respectfully request that the plan to open the schools continues on schedule with how the elected members of the Board of Education have previously deemed appropriate.

We need our public schools!! I worry many parents are seeking other options for students right now like home schools & private schools. I worry this will eventually cast many teachers their jobs. Sadly, virtual school is just not working for many students. We have to do better. I love our teachers and our kids!! It’s time to figure out a way to get these schools opened up to safely. This has gone in too long!!

You are doing a disservice to our kids with this virtual learning. I have a 4th grade boy and you are ruining the relationship that he and I have, by me having to be the school work enforcer. This has been a full year of misery for all. It’s time to just open it up. For those that want to stay virtual.. do it. For those that have kids that NEED school, do it!

Airing "out of an abundance of caution" is not working for the vast majority of our children. Let parents have a CHOICE in sending our children back. Our kids are not super spreaders. The schools are not super spreaders. There are many conflicts of interests playing out here. Get the children back IN school. I drive by the empty school buildings everyday and think this is such a waste of our tax dollars as our kids are staring at a computer screen sitting at home.

Please give the children and parents that want to go back to school the opportunity to do so. I am all for parents choosing what's best for their children, but we shouldn't let others that do not know our children make life altering decisions for them. My children desperately need to be around their peers. I do not want them to lose who they are.

My kindergarten needs hands-on instruction from a highly qualified teacher that is able to provide her the education she needs. We continually advocate to get the kids off electronics but we are throwing more to them with remote learning and adding Lexia, Dreambox, etc. This age group is the least vulnerable to catch COVID-19 and is least likely contracting it from school to home per research provided during the recent BOE meeting! Their little brains are like sponges right now and we aren’t doing them any justice by holding them away from their proper education they deserve, which is in-person at school with their highly qualified teachers and peers!

I am a high school EC teacher, and our students benefit in several ways from being back face to face. I for one, miss my kids, and want to see them again. We're being safe when we are face to face. We're not being careless.
