hi all,my name is june newland,im the mother of john averill who was hit and killed by a black citroen c1 on zion tce blaydon bank winlaton in gateshead on 26th november last year.he was just 36 yrs old.we have put a petition of over 1000 signatures into gateshead civic centre regarding our concerns about this danger spot, where many accidents have happened over the years. we are seeking to have yellow lines to stop cars lining this street, and also a pelican crossing to make this road safe for all to cross without worry,i have lived here 28 years and my home faces where these accidents are happening so you can just emagine how our family feel every time theres an accident here now.please sign my petition to say you agree to yellow lines and a crossing before someone elses family have that horrible knock on the door.i thank you all in advance june newland r.i.p.son we miss you xx
The local authorities have acknowledged receipt of our formal request for safety improvements on Zion Terrace. I am currently coordinating with council representatives to ensure our specific concerns regarding the double yellow lines and the installation of a pelican crossing remain a priority during their upcoming traffic review.

this section of road is a nightmare - with cars parked its impossible to see if a child is playing out and jump in front of a car.no-one drives slowly because they want to get past the obstructionbeofre a car comes the other way.

I have always believed prevention was better than cure, my Dad taught me this, he was born in 1921. WHY do we have to wait for more deaths on this death trap before something is done? Surely by putting Double yellow lines on this stretch of very busy main road and bus route into the village of Winlaton would prevent more fatal accidents. PREVEVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE!

This is a road I avoid as the parking restricts visibility and ability to pull in. Cars coming both ways push through regardless of right of way and whether you have space to pull in. I go shibdon bank!!
