For years now, Jacob has endured this disease with intrepidity and acceptance, despite the sacrifice of his ability to eat freely, go to school and countless other privileges that we often just take for granted.

He is now in hospital, and is soon to undergo yet more surgery. He will be forced to remain in hospital for six weeks or more after the operation. The last thing I want him to feel is loneliness.
