Stop Walmart!
We are a group of people who wish to keep historical sites around, and are displeased and upset by your willingness to build a Walmart store over an important site of the Civil War. The Battle of the Wilderness (May 5 and 6, 1864) was the first time that Robert E. Lee and Ulysses S. Grant faced each other. It was a vicious fight which caught fire, and many men were either wounded or burned to death. After two days, 29,000 soldiers on both sides had been killed, wounded, or captured. Today, Walmart is planning on building over this important area of land for a supercenter! This battle marked an important turning point in the Civil war, and Walmart wants to pave it over with a parking-lot! Not only that, but you already have 4 other Walmarts within a 20 mile area there (three of which are supercenters). Michael Duke (president of Walmart corps.), please think back to your history. Chances are, one of your ancestors fought in the war. Do you really want them and their sacrifices to be noticed by a sign reading "Place Carts Here!" Please take this into consideration.
