The members of the Vermont Cataloging Roundtable (VTCAT) hereby petition the Vermont Library Association (VLA) to become a Section of VLA representing the interests of Technical Services Librarians statewide. Signers of this document confirm that they are members of both VTCAT and VLA.

We understand that Sections of VLA:

1) Have a Section President who is elected by the Section Membership and is a paid member of VLA and sits on the VLA Board during their tenure. Members of the section are not required to be paid members of VLA, but should be encouraged to join.

2) Sections provide programming for their target audience in the form of at least one meeting and/or program a year. Sections are encouraged to propose programming for the Vermont Library Conference.

For more on the expected duties of the Section and it's Leadership, please view the description of the VLA College & Special Libraries Section President: http://www.vermontlibraries.org/constitution-bylaws/vla-board-positions#csl

LONG OVERDUE. technical services is the backbone of the library and we have been ignored for way too long. lets get this done.

this makes so much sense for us. catalogers need a real seat at the table so we can actually get some meaningful programming going for the conference.
