It has been a sudden shock to learn that Inkwell Book & Art Festival 2025 will exclude visual artists this year in the city of Palmdale. Many artists in the Antelope Valley have successfully participated in this event for the past few years and there are new artists who were looking forward to participate this year. We find this disappointing.

There are also artists who have been creating art all year preparing for this annual event. This new decision has rocked the visual art community in Palmdale.

It is so important to visual artists because we create for the love of it and inkwell has always given artists the opportunity to display art and to make art available for sale to the Palmdale residents. It is the only event that’s open for artists without requesting a huge entry fee. We would hope that the decision makers would reconsider excluding visual artists this year.

Updates

February 7, 2025

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you stepped up to show that our art scene in Palmdale deserves a place at this festival. This momentum belongs entirely to the artists and neighbors who refused to let us be overlooked. I am just a person who started a page, but you are the ones truly carrying this forward.

It's important for visual artists to be included because it attracts more audience to this event where writers can reach more readers that otherwise may not have attended. Writers and artists have a symbiotic relationship and together they can accomplish great things as they have been throughout history.

The visual portion of inkwell is very important to the community. We have a large group of seniors who participate in a weekly art class. We look forward to entering our art. Many have worked on drawings and paintings all year long and have the support of thier families. It is a wonderful way to bring the community of Palmdale together. Please consider reinstating the visual portion of inkwell. Thank you, Mrs Fuentes

I am an Artist that has participated in Inkwell Book And Art Festival for the past 3 years. I have been told Local Artists won’t be allowed to participate in this Important Event . I have been hand drawing and painting Beautiful Art for all age groups for 1 year…this event is the way I reach all participants through ART. I am an Artist Instructor of AV ART CLUB. We have had several students that wanted to participate this year. This will be a huge disappointment for them. Could you kindly reconsider your decision thank you.

Bring back the artist and ink well. Kaleidoscope is way to much money

Inkwell is a major outlet for local artists of all skill levels. There's not really another event except Generations that give our artists a chance to shine.

Inkwell has always been for our local artists and was something that we look forward too every year. I feel like we are being shut out of our yearly event because the city has cancelled our show. We need it back for all of our local artists
